Newsflash 21 August 2011: coming soon: Santa Barbara from Honduras

   Bugisu, Uganda  Est 3

The Bugisu is an Arabica Typica coffee grown at altitudes above 1400 metres on the slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda on the Uganda / Kenya border. Mount Elgon is an enormous conical volcano which in its time was much larger than Africa's highest peak, Kilimanjaro. It is much older and has weathered into a flattened peak with rich volcanic soils which help form this great coffee.

The name Bugisu takes its name from the people who farm this coffee, the Bugisu tribe, part of the Masaba nation that live in the Mbale district around the town of Mbale in Uganda.

The Bugisu is a medium-bodied coffee with a complex cup. It has a earthiness with fruit notes and some hazelnut caramel tones.
